Job Summary

Prohealth UK is seeking a compassionate and dedicated support workers to join our team, responsible for providing comprehensive support to unaccompanied asylum seeking children. The Support Worker will play a crucial role in helping these children adjust to their new environment, ensuring their safety and promoting their emotional and social well-being.

We support all aspects of unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people’s experiences from the point that they are placed at the residential settings, recognising the trauma, challenges, and loss our young people have been through, whilst being able to undertake holistic assessments of their needs and support them through out their future until they leave care setting. We are committed to the safeguarding, welfare and development of all young people.

You will be part of a wider UASC team made up of Support Workers, Senior Support Workers, Team Managers and Registered Service Managers at the work location.

Your Responsibilities as a Support Worker:

Support: Provide day-to-day care and supervision for unaccompanied asylum seeking children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Working closely with the support team to develop and implement support plans and safety plans tailored to meet the needs of each young person, ensuring their well-being.

Emotional Support: Offer emotional support to help children deal with the trauma and stress of their experiences, facilitating access to mental health services as needed.

Education and Integration: Assist children in accessing educational opportunities and encourage participation in social, cultural, and recreational activities to aid their integration into the community.

Development and Monitoring: Develop and implement individual care plans tailored to each child’s needs, and monitor progress, adjusting plans as necessary.

Communication: Maintain regular communication with social workers, legal representatives, educational institutions, and other relevant agencies to co- ordinate care and support.

Cultural Sensitivity: Promote and respect cultural, linguistic, and religious differences, ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment for all children.

Documentation and Reporting: Keep accurate and detailed records of each child’s progress, incidents, and any other relevant information, providing reports as required.

Helping towards keeping a safe, secure and clean, living environment. Following policies, risk assessments, and keep up to date with daily paperwork.

Education:
  • Minimum A Level/Degree or equivalent (preferred)
  • Health and Social Care Qualifications in Level1 or Level2 in Care is preferred
  • Mandatory and Essential Trainings in Safeguarding Children

    Experience:
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable children, particularly unaccompanied asylum seekers or refusees, is desirable.
  • Home care/Residential Care : 2 years (preferred)

    Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with children.
  • Empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by asylum seeking children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.

    Additional Requirements:
  • Background Checks: Enhanced DBS check is required.

    Language Skills:
  • Fluency in English is essential, other languages relevant to the children coming from countries like Afghanistan, Syria, Ukraine, Somalia and Vietnam.

    Work Hours:
  • Minimum 40 hours per week with additional hours

    Work Days: Monday to Sunday Shifts:
  • Day and Night ShiftsSalary:
  • Minimum: £ 11.42/Hour
  • Maximum: £ 12.25/Hour
